Brewers Fall in 11th – Wednesday Sports Wrap

The Detroit Tigers’ game against the Chicago White Sox last night was rained out. It will be made up September 27th. The Tigers will play a day-night doubleheader in Chicago today. Game one makes up a game that was postponed April 27th. Daniel Norris will start against Dylan Cease, who will be making his major league debut. Pregame coverage will begin at 1:45 on 99.3 The Lift. In the second game, Tyler Alexander will come up from Toledo to make his major league debut for the Tigers. Ross Detwiler will start for the Sox. Pregame coverage will begin at 7:45.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost 5-4 in 11 innings to the Cincinnati Reds last night. Yasiel Puig scored the winning run, advancing from first base to third on a single by José Iglesias, and continuing home when Christian Yelich’s throw from the outfield missed the cutoff man. Yelich, who had hit his 31st homer of the season earlier in the game, was charged with an error. Corbin Burnes took the loss. Eric Thames and Mike Moustakas also homered.

The Brewers will play at Cincinnati again tonight. Jhoulys Chacín will pitch against Sonny Gray.

Twilight League Baseball

In Copper Country Twilight League baseball action last night…
– Dean Kangas-State Farm defeated Garnet Garage 14-4.
– Superior National Bank-Stanton scored seven runs in the sixth inning, and downed REL-Mohawk Technology 7-3.

NHL

NHL free agent signings continue. Former Michigan Tech center Tanner Kero has inked a two-year, two-way contract with the Dallas Stars. Former Huskies forward Jujhar Khaira has signed a two-year deal to stay with the Edmonton Oilers.

Running

This year’s Liberty 5k Run/Walk will be held tomorrow, as part of Baraga County Lumberjack Days. Onsite registration will open at 8:00 at the American Legion Hall in Baraga. The race will begin at 8:30. There’s also a one-mile run for kids. The event is a fundraiser for the KBIC Youth. Find details here.
