MLB
The Tigers had yesterday off, and open a series at Minnesota tonight. Tarik Skubal will start against Simeon Woods Richardson. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Jake Cave’s single off Joel Payamps in the bottom of the 10th inning drove home the winning run, as the Rockies shaded the Brewers 8-7 last night. Bryse Wilson struggled on the mound. After taking over from opener Rob Zastryzny, he lasted just four innings, and gave up five runs. William Contreras homered. He and Willy Adames each had three hits.
The Brewers visit the Rockies again tonight. Dallas Keuchel will pitch against Ryan Feltner.
Garrett Mitchell rejoined the Brewers last night, after missing the first three months of the season with a broken finger. Tyler Black was sent to Nashville to make room on the 25-man roster. Owen Miller was designated for assignment to open a space on the 40-man roster.
We now know officially why television analyst Craig Monroe has been missing from Tigers broadcasts for the past month. The team and Fox Sports Detroit confirmed yesterday that Monroe has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman.
The victim says she was 12 years old when Monroe began to assault her, around 25 years ago, when he was playing in the minor leagues. She says the abuse continued as he went on to play nine seasons in the major leagues – five of them with Detroit. The woman said she initially reached out to both the network and the team about her claims, and then posted them on social media when she got no response.
The team and network did respond yesterday, saying they are aware of the allegations and take them seriously. Monroe has not commented, and officials say he will remain off the air indefinitely.
