Most or all of the high school athletic competitions scheduled for the next several days have been canceled because of the weather.

NBA

In NBA Tournament first round games yesterday…

In the Western Conference…
• The Kings outscored the Warriors 118-99. That series is tied 3-3.
• The Lakers routed the Grizzlies 125-85. L-A wins that set 4-2.

• The Suns visit the Nuggets.

NHL

In NHL opening round playoff games yesterday…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Hurricanes dispatched the Islanders 2-1 in overtime. Carolina takes that series 4-2.
• The Panthers upended the Bruins 7-5. That series is tied 3-3.

In the Western Conference…
• The Stars shut down the Wild 4-1. Dallas wins that series 4-2.
• The Avalanche outskated the Kraken 4-1. That series is tied 3-3.

Today…

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Maple Leafs visit the Lightning. Toronto leads that series 3-2.
• The Rangers host the Devils. New Jersey is up 3-2 in that set.

In the Western Conference…
• The Kings welcome the Oilers. Edmonton has a 3-2 lead in that series.

MLB

The Tigers and Orioles were rained out last night in Detroit. The teams will play a split doubleheader today. Coverage of game one will begin at 11:45 on 99.3 the Lift. Eduardo Rodriguez will pitch against Dean Kremer. Coverage of game two will start at 4:45. Matthew Boyd will pitch against Grayson Rodriguez.

The Brewers slipped past the Angels 2-1 last evening. Willy Adames homered in the first inning. Rowdy Tellez singled home William Contreras with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth. Wade Miley gave up a run over six innings.

The Brewers welcome the Angels again this evening. Corbin Burnes will start against Reid Detmers. 

NFL

The Lions continued trading draft picks yesterday, and wound up with four picks in rounds two and three. They used their second-round picks on Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta and Alabama Safety Brian Branch. In the third round, they selected Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, and Western Kentucky defensive tackle Brodric Martin.

The Packers had three selections last night. In the second round, they picked Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave and Michigan State wide receiver Jayden Reed. They used their third-round pick to get South Dakota State tight end Tucker Kraft.

The final four rounds of the draft will take place today. The Lions have just two selections remaining. The Packers have nine.

Among the players still on the board is former Ewen-Trout Creek and Northern Michigan standout Jake Witt, who has impressed a number of pro scouts during pre-draft workouts as an offensive tackle.
