Brewers Drop Playoff Opener – Thursday Sports Wrap

MLB

In the National League Baseball playoffs…
• The Brewers lost to the Dodgers 4-2. Milwaukee starter Brent Suter gave up two runs in the first, and another before leaving in the second. Orlando Arcia homered for the crew. Brandon Woodruff will start against Clayton Kershaw in game two of that series tonight.
• The Reds shaded the Braves 1-0 in 13 innings. Cincinnati leads that series 1-0.
• The Marlins defeated the Cubs 5-1. Florida leads that series 1-0.
• The Cardinals outscored the Padres 7-4. Saint Louis leads that set 1-0.

Each of those series continues today.

Ryan Braun left last night’s game with a recurrence of the lower back stiffness that has bothered him for the past few weeks. His status for tonight’s game is not known.

In the American League yesterday…
• The Astros beat the Twins 3-1. Houston wins that series 2-0.
• The Rays dumped the Blue Jays 8-2. Tampa Bay wins that set 2-0.
• The Yankees rallied in the ninth to edge the Indians 10-9. New York wins that series 2-0.
• The Athletics defeated the White Sox 5-3. That series is tied 1-1, and will conclude this afternoon.

NBA

The Lakers took game one of the NBA championship series last night, beating the Heat 116-98. Game two will be played tomorrow.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game, the Broncos visit the Jets. Coverage begins at 8:00 on 99.3 The Lift.

The Titans logged one additional positive COVID-19 test yesterday. With nine confirmed cases, and more test results still pending, their game against the Steelers will not be played Sunday. Depending on the results of the remaining tests, it could be played Monday or Tuesday.

The Vikings, who played the Titans last Sunday, have tested clean. They plan to resume activities today, and play their game on Sunday at Houston.
