MLB

The Tigers got past the Dodgers 4-2 last night. Reese Olson allowed a run on two hits over six innings to get the win. Kerry Carpenter had two hits and scored twice.

The Tigers visit the Athletics tonight. Tarik Skubal will pitch against Luis Medina. Because of NFL Football, coverage will start at 9:15 on KBear 102.3.

Javier Báez missed his second straight game last night, with lower back stiffness. He’s considered day-to-day.

Tigers outfielder Riley Greene has undergone Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow. That’s not his throwing elbow, and he’s expected to be ready to play next spring. Greene was transferred to the 60-day disabled list, opening a roster spot for reliever Brenan Hanifee, who was called up yesterday from Toledo.

Josh Donaldson’s three-run homer in the first inning launched the Brewers to an 8-2 victory over the Cardinals last evening. Tyrone Taylor added two home runs. Adrian Houser gave up a run on four hits over six innings.

The Brewers visit the Cardinals again this afternoon. Wade Miley will start against Miles Mikolas.

The Cubs lost, so Milwaukee’s lead in the National League Central Division expands to seven games. Any combination of four Milwaukee wins or Chicago losses clinches a share of the division title for the Brewers.

Brewers pitcher J.C. Mejía has been suspended for 162 games – a full season – for violating Major League Baseball’s drug policy. Mejía reportedly tested positive for the steroid Stanozolol. It’s the second time he’s been caught. Mejía has been on the injured list for the past month. The suspension takes effect immediately.

Milwaukee will finish the regular season without reliever Elvis Peguero, who’s been placed on the injured list because of swelling in his pitching elbow. He could return for the playoffs. Julio Teheran has been brought off the injured list to replace him. The Brewers have also sent pitcher Colin Rea back to Nashville, and brought up JB Bukauskas.

NFL

In tonight’s NFL game, the Giants visit the 49ers. Coverage will begin at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
