College Hockey
The Finlandia University men’s hockey team was scheduled to skate at Northland College tonight. Because of COVID-19 issues at Northland, that game has been postponed to January 18th.
College Basketball
Both Finlandia University basketball teams face Northland College today. The women’s game is this afternoon in Ashland. The men’s game starts at 7:00 at the Paavo Nurmi Center.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings entertain the San Jose Sharks tonight. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
NBA
Saddaiq Bey scored a career-high 34 points, as the Detroit Pistons stunned the Milwaukee Bucks 115-106 last evening. Cade Cunningham, Josh Jackson, Trey Lyles, Killian Hayes, Saben Lee and Rodney McGruder returned from the COVID-19 list. Jackson scored 24, and Cunningham added 19, including a critical shot with 30 seconds remaining that staved off an attempted Milwaukee comeback.
The Pistons have won two straight, and visit the Charlotte Hornets tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
NFL
Last night, the Pittsburgh Steelers stopped the Cleveland Browns 26-14.

The Green Bay Packers have clinched home field advantage through the NFC title game, along with a bye in the first round of the playoffs. So, will coach Matt LaFleur play Aaron Rodgers and his other starters in a basically meaningless game Sunday against the lowly Detroit Lions? Yesterday, LaFleur said he feared the effect of what would become a three-week layoff, so the team will approach this like any other game, and his starters will most likely be on the field.

Former Detroit Tigers outfielder Cameron Maybin has announced his retirement. Maybin was a first-round draft pick for Detroit in 2005, and made his major league debut with the Tigers two years later. Over 15 seasons, he spent three separate stints in Detroit, along with stops with the Marlins, Padres, Braves, Angels, Astros, Mariners, Yankees, Cubs and Mets.
