Boys Hoops Wins for Jeffers, Chassell – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School

In boys high school basketball last night…
• Jeffers built a big early lead, then held off Houghton 57-47. Levi Frahm led the Jets with 20 points, and Matthew Schutz added 19. Luke Hill and Bryce Pugh each had 12 for the Gremlins.
• Chassell came from nine points down in the second half to edge Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 62-58. Mason Loukus led the Panthers with 17 points, and Eli Danison added 15.
• The Baraga game at Ontonagon was snowed out, and will be made up Friday.

In basketball tonight…
• Hancock hosts Watersmeet.
• L’Anse travels to Republic-Michigamme.

In hockey this evening…
• Houghton skates at Kingsford. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on the Voice of the Gremlins, 97.7 The Wolf.

The Houghton swim team opens its season today at home against Westwood.

College Basketball

The Michigan Tech women’s basketball team plays at Concordia-Saint Paul tonight. 

College Hockey

Ryland Mosley and Matthew Campbell from the Michigan Tech hockey team have been honored by the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Mosley was named Forward of the Week, after netting two goals against Minnesota State on Friday, including the game-winner in overtime. Campbell was tabbed as Defenseman of the Week. He recorded an assist in each of the Huskies weekend games, and was plus-three on the weekend.

NHL

The Red Wings visit the Rangers tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:15 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons’ losing streak reached 14 games last night, with a 126-107 loss to the Wizards. Cade Cunningham led Detroit with 26 points, and Jalen Duren grabbed 14 rebounds. Only twice before in team history has the club dropped 14 straight games.

The Pistons entertain the Lakers tomorrow.

NFL

In last night’s NFL game, Cairo Santos’ fourth field goal of the night with 10 seconds remaining lifted the Bears to a 12-10 victory over the Vikings. Chicago intercepted Minnesota quarterback Josh Dobbs four times.
