In high school hockey last night…
• Jeffers claimed a wild 9-7 victory over Negaunee.

In hockey this evening…
• Calumet skates at Hancock. Coverage will begin at 6:40 on the Voice of the Copper Kings, KBear 102.3.

In boys basketball last evening…
• Hancock fell to Ironwood 57-51 in double overtime.
• Jeffers v Watersmeet – no report.

In girls action…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell suffered its first loss of the season, 49-37 to Baraga. Kara Roberts led the Vikings with 15 points, and Kinzie Jahfetson added 12.
• Houghton got past Westwood 51-46. Clea Ollanketo led the Gremlins with 14 points. Eva Gerard had 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Danica Ryynanen scored 11. Lexi Olson paced the Patriots with 17 points, and Isabelle Marta added 10.
• Calumet slipped past Hancock 31-23 in overtime. The defensive battle saw the Copper Kings leading 14-9 at halftime. The game was tied at 20 at the end of regulation. Caitlin Strom, who had been held in check by the Bulldogs for much of the game, hit some critical late free throws and a final layup to seal the win. She finished with 14 points. At a ski meet at Marquette Mountain yesterday, the host Sentinels won both the boys and girls competitions. The Houghton boys placed second. Individually, Eli Heathman placed second in the slalom and third in the giant slalom. Jack Haeussler finished fifth in the Slalom, and Connor Kamm was fifth in the giant slalom. College Hockey

Michigan Tech’s Isaac Gordon has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for the third time this season. Gordon had a goal and an assist as the Huskies split their games against Lake Superior State last weekend.

NHL

The Red Wings return to the ice tomorrow, when they entertain the Senators. Coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Pistons visit the Cavaliers tomorrow evening.
