Baraga Girls in Hoops Quarterfinal Tonight – Tuesday Sports Wrap

High School

The Baraga girls basketball team will face Saint Ignace in the state tournament quarterfinals tonight. The Vikings enter the game with a record of 21-3. The Saints are 23-0. The game will tip off at 7:00 in Escanaba. Pregame coverage will begin around 6:30 on KBear 102.3 and KBear102.com.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings visit the New York Rangers tonight. Pregame coverage begins at 6:40 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-119 last night. Coach Dwayne Casey gave Blake Griffin a night off. In his absence, Wayne Ellington led Detroit with a season-best 25 points. Andre Drummond had 21 points and 21 rebounds. The Pistons visit the Phoenix Suns Thursday night.

MLB

Half of the Detroit Tigers lost 14-1 to the Baltimore Orioles in Grapefruit League play yesterday. Nicholas Castellanos homered. Jordan Zimmermann threw four shutout innings, but left as the Orioles scored six times in the fifth. The other half of the Tigers fell 3-2 to the Toronto Blue Jays. Daniel Norris gave up three runs over three innings. Gordon Beckham homered. The Tigers will face the Pittsburgh Pirates this afternoon. The Milwaukee Brewers had yesterday off, and will face the Texas Rangers in Cactus League action this afternoon.

Little League

Both the Portage Lake Little League and the Keweenaw Little League will hold sign-up sessions tonight. Portage Lake’s only on-site registration of the spring will take place from 5:30 until 7:30 at the Houghton County Arena. Keweenaw will hold two onsite sign-ups – tonight from 6:00 until 8:00 at Lake Linden Elementary School, and April 2nd in Calumet.
