Five Detroit Lions have been named to the NFC Pro Bowl Team. All are listed as reserves, including rookie Sam LaPorta at tight end, Penei Sewell at tackle, Frank Ragnow at center, Aidan Hutchinson at defensive end, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin on special teams. A couple of notable former Lions are also on the roster as reserves, including Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, and Eagles running back D’Andre Swift. Seven more Lions were tabbed as alternates. No Packers were named to the squad, but five are listed as alternates.

Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love has been named NFC Player of the Week. Love threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in Green Bay’s win over Minnesota.

Sled Dog Racing

The first of the three races in the Superior Crown Sled Dog Series has been canceled again this year. This weekend’s Tahquamenon Country Sled Dog Race was called off because of a lack of snow.

It’s the second rough start for the Superior Crown Series, which was established to reward mushers who excel at the Tahquamenon, the U.P. 200 and the CopperDog 150. In its inaugural year last year, both the Tahquamenon and the U.P. 200 had to be canceled because of poor conditions. This year’s U.P. 200 is scheduled for mid-February, and the CopperDog 150 for the first weekend in March.
