MLB

Akil Baddoo singled home Parker Meadows in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Tigers a 3-2 victory over the Mariners last evening. Detroit had tied the game when Kerry Carpenter slugged a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth – his third in the two games since he returned from an extended stretch on the injured list. Bryan Sammons relieved opener Beau Brieske in the second inning on another bullpen night, and pitched through the seventh, allowing a run on two hits.

Those teams conclude that set in Detroit this afternoon. Alex Faedo will start against Bryce Miller. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Javier Báez was pulled from the line-up before last night’s game with hip discomfort. He’ll be evaluated today.

The Brewers snapped their losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Dodgers last night. Jackson Chourio singled home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Jake Bauers homered, and Sal Frelick stroked an RBI triple. Frankie Montas gave up three runs over five innings.

The Brewers host the Dodgers again this afternoon. Tobias Myers will pitch against Jack Flaherty.

NFL

Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs sat out yesterday’s practice, but coach Dan Campbell indicated that the hamstring injury Gibbs suffered earlier in the week doesn’t seem to be serious. Quarterback Hendon Hooker returned to practice after suffering a concussion in Thursday’s game. Campbell said there’s a good chance he’ll be ready to play in Detroit’s next exhibition game Saturday at Kansas City. Hear the broadcast of that game on 99.3 The Lift.
