MLB
The Detroit Tigers were rained out last night. The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader in Detroit on September 1st.

The Tigers play two against the Indians today. The afternoon game is a make-up for a rain-out on May 4th. Anibal Sanchez will start against Josh Tomlin. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift. The regular-schedule evening contest will pit Jordan Zimmermann against Carlos Carrasco. Pregame coverage will begin at 6:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

Vogt

Newly-acquired catcher Stephen Vogt hit two homers, and drove in all three Milwaukee runs, as the Brewers edged the Miami Marlins 3-2 last night. Matt Garza gave up two runs over five innings. Carlos Torres got the win in relief. Cory Knebel claimed the save, with help from Vogt, who caught a perfect relay from shortstop Orlando Arcia, and tagged out J.T. Realmuto as he was sliding into home plate.

The Brewers host the Marlins again this afternoon. Zach Davies will pitch against Tom Koehler.

In Copper Country Fast Pitch Softball League play last night…
– Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone routed Mattila Rock and Dock 18-2. Elli Djerf was the winning pitcher, striking out one and walking two. Sammi Jahfetson took the loss with three strikeouts and 10 walks. Taylor Vertin had a double and two singles for Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone and Mackenzie Lepage and Caitlyn Zerbest each had two singles. Offensively for Mattila Rock and Dock, Grace Laitila and Darla Mensch each had a single and Amanda Mattila had a double.
 – Superior National Bank outscored Frank A. Douglass Agency 16-9. Larissa Anderson was the winning pitcher for Superior National Bank, with five strikeouts and four walks. Isabelle Cleary and Bailey Froberg combined for the loss with three strikeouts and nine walks. Anderson started the game off with a triple to lead Superior National Bank in a five-run first inning. Also for Superior National Bank, Alexa Johnson had three singles and Rosalie Anderson had a double and a single. At the plate for Frank A. Douglass Agency, Raili Therrian had a double and a single and Isabelle Cleary also had a double and a single.
– Auto Pro Glass and Tire defeated Northern Michigan Land Brokers 18-8. Sarah Audette was the winning pitcher, with Mandy Perrault coming in to relieve her in the sixth inning. Audette had five strikeouts and seven walks. Perrault had three strikeouts and two walks. Hannah Hill was the losing pitcher, with four strikeouts and four walks. Kenzie Brunet lead Auto Pro Glass and Tire with two doubles and two singles. Taylor Shepeard, Morgan Gast and Mandy Perrault each had two singles. For Northern Michigan Land Brokers, Kirsten Berg had a double and a single and Hill and Ciara Larson each had 2 singles.

MTU
The Michigan Tech women’s basketball schedule for the 2917-2018 season has been released. The Huskies will play 12 home games. They’ll open the season November 10th on the road, with a non-conference match against Davis and Elkins College at a tournament at Ursuline College in suburban Cleveland. Like the men’s team, they’ll play home-and-home series against the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s newest schools, Davenport University, and Purdue-Northwest. The Huskies will face rival Northern Michigan in Marquette on December 17th, and in Houghton January 27th.
