The Detroit Tigers’ late comeback fell short, as they lost to the San Francisco Giants 5-4 last evening. Daniel Norris struggled again, giving up five runs on seven hits over just four innings. Warwick Saupold, Bruce Rondón and Shane Greene combined for five innings of scoreless relief. Detroit scored four runs in the seventh, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Tigers conclude that series against the Giants this afternoon. Anibal Sanchez will start against Johnny Cueto. Pregame coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.
Outfielder Alex Presley is back with the Tigers, after missing time because of a concussion. Outfielder Jim Adduci has completed his rehab assignment at Toledo, and has been assigned to stay with the Mud Hens.
The Milwaukee Brewers blanked the Baltimore Orioles 4-0 last night. Matt Garza pitched into the seventh to get the win. Keon Broxton homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers play a single game at Chicago against the Cubs this afternoon, to make up a rainout from May 20th. Zach Davies will pitch against Mike Montgomery.

– Auto Pro Glass and Tire scored five runs in the first inning, and held off Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II 8-5. Morgan Peters was the winning pitcher and Ellie Djerf took the loss. Taylor Shepeard had two hits for Auto Pro. Sarah Audette had a triple and Kirsten Codere had a double. For Calumet Golf Club/Loading Zone II, Jada Riutta had a single and a double and Ellie Djerf had two singles.
– Northern Michigan Land Brokers came from behind to defeat Frank A. Douglass Agency 11-6. Hannah Hill was the winning pitcher. Molly Berg and Janie Berg each had a single for Northern Michigan Land Brokers. Harley Froberg and Molly Bugni each had two singles for Frank A. Douglass Agency.
NHL
Detroit Red Wings forward Tomas Tatar has filed for salary arbitration. That means he won’t be receiving offers from other teams as a restricted free agent. He and the club have a month to work out a deal. If they can’t, a hearing will be held.
Frisbee
Flying Disc Sports Week activities continue today with a relaxed-intensity Throwback Guts Tournament at the Old Ball Yard in Eagle Harbor. The action begins at 12:01. If you’d like to play, you’re invited, even if you’ve never played before. There’s a disc golf tournament at the Calumet course tomorrow, along with freestyle, distance and speed, and dog Frisbee demonstrations at Agassiz Field in Calumet. The expanded activities lead up to the 60th annual International Frisbee Tournament at Agassiz Field this weekend, and the Hall of Fame induction ceremony Saturday evening at the Colosseum. The Copper Country Strawberry Festival 5k and 2k Run/Walk will be held Saturday morning. Onsite registration opens at 7:00 at the Chassell Heritage Center, and the races begin at 8:00.
