MLB
The Detroit Tigers got six strong innings from Michael Fulmer, and defeated the Cleveland Indians 5-3 yesterday. Fulmer gave up a run in the fourth inning. He started the seventh inning, but left the game after giving up four straight hits, including a two-run homer. Shane Greene rescued Fulmer; then Justin Wilson rescued Greene after Greene walked the first two batters of the eighth inning. Wilson earned a five-out save. Alex Presley doubled home two runs as Detroit broke the game open with three scored in the sixth inning.

Heading into the All-Star break, the Tigers are in fourth place in the American League Central Division. They’re nine games under .500, eight games behind the division-leading Indians, and one game ahead of the last-place White Sox.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored three runs in the first inning, and held on to defeat the New York Yankees 5-3 yesterday. Jimmy Nelson gave up all three New York runs in the fifth inning. He left after allowing the first two batters in the sixth to reach base. Chase Headley greeted reliever Carlos Torres with a long fly ball to left field that was initially called a home run, but was subsequently ruled foul on a replay review. Travis Shaw and Steven Vogt homered for Milwaukee. Corey Knebel earned a four-out save.

Heading into the All-Star Break, the Brewers are nine games over .500, and lead the Cubs by five-and-a-half games in first place in the National League Central Division.
