In girls basketball last night…
• Calumet stopped Jeffers 41-26. Caitlyn Strom had 20 points for the Copper Kings.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell cruised past Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 54-26.
• Ewen-Trout Creek downed Bessemer 62-39.
• Ontonagon lost a 54-53 overtime heartbreaker to Ironwood.
In boys action…
• Calumet fell to Ishpeming 57-38. Micah Pieti led the Copper Kings with 10 points.
• Hancock got past Republic-Michigamme 61-47.
• Lake Linden-Hubbell outscored Dollar Bay-Tamarack City 84-59. Danny Marcotte had 28 points for the Lakes, and Gabe Popko added 24. Liam Tourtillot scored 26 for the Blue Bolts.
• Ewen-Trout Creek defeated Bessemer 65-44.
• Ontonagon lost to Ironwood 57-53.
On the boys schedule tonight…
• Lake Linden-Hubbell will face Forest Park at the SDC. The JV game will start at 6:00, with varsity to follow. Coverage will begin around 7:15 on KBear 102.3.
At the U.P. Ski Finals at Powderhorn Mountain yesterday…
• The Houghton girls finished fourth. Rachel Sun finished fifth in the giant slalom.
• The Houghton boys finished second, just one point behind Marquette. In the slalom, Eli Heathman finished second, and Jack Haeussler fifth. The Gremlins dominated the giant slalom, with Heathman and Haeussler taking second and third, and Logan Niemi and Connor Kamm placing fifth and sixth.
The All-UP Team was announced yesterday.
• Girl’s First Team members include Ava Stern, Lucy Stern and Nora Skytta from Marquette, and Ella Rizzo from Norway. The Girls Second Team includes Lexi Hammerstrom and Anna Benard from Marquette, Megan Bittinger from Norway, and Bella Gaiser from Ironwood.
• Boys First Team members include Eli Heathman from Houghton, and Sam Dehlin, Ben Kuhl and Conner Henry from Marquette. Second team members include Jack Haeussler and Connor Kamm from Houghton, Logan Holm from Ironwood, and Brady Audette from Marquette.
Several members of the Houghton High School swim team have been named to the All-U.P. squad. They include Meg Ruohonen and Baha Saleem for diving, and Collin Raasio and Beau Haataja for swimming. Both the girls and boys teams earned Academic All-State Honors again this season, for maintaining a cumulative GPA above 3.5. Kayleigh Carlson, Ian Evans, Oliver Anderson and Daniel Lui were awarded Academic All-State honors.

Detroit has signed forward Michael Rasmussen to a four-year contract extension, reported to be worth $12.8 million.
NBA
The Pistons return to action at Indiana tomorrow night.
MLB
The Tigers have claimed outfielder T.J. Hopkins off waivers from the Giants. Hopkins hit .171 in 25 games for the Reds in his first major league season last year. To make room, Detroit designated for assignment reliever Kolton Ingram, who they had claimed off waivers just two weeks ago from the Angels.
