The Tigers lost to the Guardians 5-2 last night. Tyler Alexander turned in a quality start, allowing just two runs over seven innings. He took the tough loss. Cleveland put the game away with three runs off Will Vest in the eighth. Detroit didn’t score until they plated two in the bottom of the ninth.

The Tigers entertain the Guardians again tonight. Drew Hutchison will start against Aaron Civale. Coverage begins at 6:50 on 99.3 The Lift.

Detroit has brought outfielder Kerry Carpenter up from Toledo. Carpenter has hit 30 home runs between Double-A and Triple-A this season, and is batting .313. Daz Cameron has been sent down to make room. Outfielder Austin Meadows is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment at Toledo today. He’s been recovering from Achilles tendon issues.

The Brewers got past the Rays 5-3 last evening. Freddy Peralta allowed two runs over five innings. Andrew McCutcheon had two hits and drove in two runs.

The Brewers host the Rays this afternoon. Brandon Woodruff will pitch against Jeffrey Springs.
