College Baseball

The Finlandia University baseball team lost both of its games at Wisconsin-Whitewater yesterday, 13-1 and 14-4. Jordan D’Angelo had three hits for the Lions.

College Softball

The Finlandia softball team lost two to Bay College yesterday, 3-0 and 7-4.

NBA

Opening-round NBA tournament play continued yesterday.

In the Eastern Conference…
• The Milwaukee Bucks outscored the Chicago Bulls 119-95. Milwaukee leads that series 3-1.
• The Miami Heat shut down the Atlanta Hawks 110-86. Miami is up 3-1 in that series.

In the Western Conference…
• The Denver Nuggets edged the Golden State Warriors 126-121. Golden State leads that series 3-1.
• The New Orleans Pelicans downed the Phoenix Suns 118-103. That series is tied 2-2.

In the Eastern Conference today…
• The Boston Celtics visit the Brooklyn Nets. Boston is up 3-0 in that series.
• The Philadelphia 76ers host the Toronto Raptors. Philly leads that set 3-1.

In the Western Conference today…
• The Utah Jazz visit the Dallas Mavericks. That series is tied 2-2.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings blanked the New Jersey Devils 3-0 yesterday. The game was closer than the score might indicate. Oskar Sundkvist’s goal late in the first period was the only score in the contest, until Tyler Bertuzzi and Michael Rasmussen added late empty-netters. Alex Nedeljkovic had to make just 17 saves.

The Wings visit the Toronto Maple Leafs tomorrow night.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers lost 6-2 to the Colorado Rockies yesterday. Tyler Alexander struggled, giving up five runs on eight hits before leaving in the fourth inning. Austin Meadows and Robbie Grossman had RBI singles. Tucker Barnhardt scored both Detroit runs.

The Tigers have today off, and open a series at Minnesota tomorrow. Coverage will begin at 7:20 on 99.3 The Lift.

Christian Yelich’s sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning lifted the Milwaukee Brewers to a 1-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies yesterday. Eric Lauer struck out 13 over six innings.

The Brewers host the San Francisco Giants this evening. Corbin Burnes will start against Sam Long.
