The Finlandia University baseball team plays doubleheaders at Wisconsin-Stevens Point today and tomorrow.

GLHL

The Portage Lake Pioneers concluded their season with a 10-2 loss to the top-seeded Eagle River Falcons in their final pool contest at the Great Lakes Hockey League tournament Saturday morning. The Pioneers had dropped their first pool contest Friday afternoon to the West Bend Bombers, 6-3.

The Calumet Wolverines played both of their pool games on Friday, falling 10-2 to the Fond du Lac Bears, and 5-3 to the Marquette Mutineers.

The Mutineers were eliminated with a 12-4 loss to the Bears Saturday.

The tourney will conclude this afternoon, with the Bears facing the Fox Cities Ice Dogs in the championship game.

NHL

The Detroit Red Wings skate at Ottawa this afternoon. Coverage will begin at 12:45 on 99.3 The Lift.

NBA

The Detroit Pistons visit the Indiana Pacers today. Coverage begins at 4:35 on 99.3 The Lift.

MLB

The Detroit Tigers lost 2-0 to the Baltimore Orioles Saturday, in a game that ended early because of rain. Eduardo Rodriguez pitched into the sixth, and gave up both Baltimore runs. Victor Reyes had two hits.

The Tigers face the Philadelphia Phillies this afternoon. Casey Mize will start.

One of Detroit’s two heralded prospects has made the opening day roster. First baseman Spencer Torkelson will open the season with the Tigers.

The other top prospect will not. Outfielder Riley Greene broke a bone in his foot when he fouled a pitch off his shoe top Friday. Chances are he’ll miss six to eight weeks. Detroit will begin the season a little shorthanded in the outfield, because Derek Hill is also sidelined with a pulled hamstring.

The Milwaukee Brewers lost to the Seattle Mariners 4-3 Saturday evening. Corbin Burnes gave up a run on two hits over six innings, and struck out six. Prospect Jake Scheiner won it for the Mariners with a leadoff home run off Trevor Gott in the bottom of the ninth.

The Brewers play the Texas Rangers today. Brandon Woodruff will start.
