The Detroit Tigers had yesterday off, and open a series in Minnesota tonight. Anibal Sanchez will start against Kyle Gibson. Hear the first pitch at 8:10 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

Cleveland won last night, and extended its lead over the Tigers to seven and a half games in the American League Central Division.

Jose Iglesias hit a home run in his first rehab game with the Toledo Mud Hens last night. The Tigers’ shortstop has been out with a bad hamstring.

The Milwaukee Brewers scored three runs in the first inning, and defeated the Colorado Rockies 4-2 last night. Kirk Nieuwenhuis singled home two runs in that first inning. Chris Carter slugged his 30th home run of the season in the third. After suffering six straight losses, Jimmy Nelson turned in six strong innings to get the win.

The Brewers will host the Rockies again tonight. Chase Anderson will pitch against Jon Gray.

High School
In high school volleyball, Houghton will play at a tournament at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh today and tomorrow.

The Michigan Tech football team will host a scrimmage tonight at 7:00 at Sherman Field as part of the countdown to the 2016 season opener. It’s free and open to the public. MTU kicks off the 2016 season at home on a week from Saturday against Walsh University.

Forgotten Eagles Golf Tourney
Forgotten EaglesThe Forgotten Eagles will hold a golf outing this Saturday to raise money to assist local veterans and active servicemen and women and their families. The two-person, 18-hole scramble will begin with a shotgun start at 10:00 at the Calumet Golf Club. The cost is $25.00 per person. A picnic lunch will be served following the tournament. Register in person at the Pro Shop, or call 337-3911.
