Wenceel Pérez singled home Parker Meadows with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning, as the Tigers shaded the Royals 6-5 Saturday. The game was scoreless through the first five frames. Each team scored once in the sixth, and K.C. took the lead with a pair off Kenta Maeda in the top of the seventh. Detroit tied the game in the bottom of the ninth, with a Bligh Madris home run and a Javier Báez RBI double. The Royals plated on in the top of the 10th, but the Tigers matched that with an RBI double from Justyn-Henry Malloy. K.C. added another in the top of the 11th, but Meadows tripled home Ryan Vilade in the bottom of the inning, and scored the game-winner on Pérez’ single.
The Tigers host the Royals again this Afternoon. Michael Wacha will start for Kansas City. Detroit has not named a starter, and will likely employ another bullpen day. Brant Hurter is expected to make his major league pitching debut, after having been called up from Toledo. Coverage will begin at 1:15 on 99.3 The Lift.
Meadows returned to the line-up after missing a month with a hamstring injury. Ryan Kreidler was sent to Toledo make room.
Aaron Civale struggled, as the Brewers fell to the Nationals 6-4 Saturday. Civale allowed five runs over four innings. Rhys Hoskins homered for Milwaukee.
The Brewers visit the Nationals again this afternoon. Tobias Myers will start against Mitchell Parker.
