Paul Douglas Normand

Lake Linden: Paul Douglas Normand, 86, of Lake Linden, passed away on August 2, 2017, at The Lighthouse at Hubbell.

He was born May 5, 1931, a son of Douglas and Helen (Hebert) Normand.  He attended Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools.

He served in the Marines from April of 1951 until April of 1954, serving in Korea from December 5, 1951 until December 6, 1952.

He worked as a miner, diamond driller, Lake Linden police officer, in construction for Moyle’s, and the job he found most rewarding was as cemetery sexton for Schoolcraft Township.

He was married to Mary Seppala on November 8, 1958 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden.

He was a member of American Legion Post 90, lifetime member of the Marine Corp. League, and Saint Joseph Catholic Church.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed kayaking, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, and caring for his garden.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-Joan.

He is survived by: his wife-Mary; 4 children-Dawn (Brian) Pichette, Paul, Jr. (Sheri) of Garner, NC, Gale (David) Lowe of Holly, MI, and Mark (Mechelle); grandchildren-Tara Miceli, Andrew and Adam Kauthen, Alex, Ashley, Zachery, and Codie Normand, and Sean Pichette; 2 great-grandchildren-Addison and Connor Pichette; 7 brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The graveside service will be at 1:30 P.M. on Saturday, September 2, at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lake Linden with Fr. Joseph Boakye Yiadom to officiate and Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post 90. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
