Patricia Jane Slattery, 70, died on Thursday July 13, 2017 in Bonita Springs, Florida after a long struggle with an aggressive form of Parkinson’s disease.
She was born on November 30, 1946 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to William and Pearl Wyss. She married her husband James in 1970 after meeting him less than two years earlier on a ski trip with the Vagabond Ski Club, where they were both active members.
Family was important to Pat, and she loved and was beloved by their two kids, their grandchildren, her parents William and Pearl, her brother, and the rest of her relatives.
In addition to being a dedicated mother, she worked full-time as an executive assistant until just before her diagnosis in 2010. Pat spent her final years in Estero, Florida. Despite her worsening condition, she was strong-willed until the very end, and her occasional bursts of laughter were contagious to those spending time with her.
Patricia is survived by her husband James Slattery, her two children Sean Slattery and Shannon (Jon) Mussa, her grandchildren Dominic and Danny, and her brother Bill Wyss (Joanne).
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, July 23 from 2-5pm at the Kolssak Funeral Home at 189 S Milwaukee Ave, Wheeling, IL 60090. A graveside service and burial will be held at 9am on Friday, July 28 at Forest Hill Cemetery in Houghton, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, online donations may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research on Pat’s tribute page at http://www.patriciaslattery.com. The O’Neill-Dennis Funeral Home of Hancock is assisting with the local arrangements.
