Obituary: Zane P. Kettenbeil

Lake Linden: Zane P. Kettenbeil, age 93, a lifelong resident of Lake Linden, died passed away on February 10, 2019.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, July 1, at St. Joseph Church in Lake Linden and interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.

Lake Linden: Zane P. Kettenbeil, age 93, a lifelong resident of Lake Linden, died peacefully on February 10, 2019, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock.

Born on March 29, 1925, in Lake Linden, Michigan, he was the son of Walter and Flossie (Cantin) Kettenbeil. He was a graduate of Lake Linden High School, studied at Michigan Technological University in Forestry and was employed by the Aldrich Family logging business before becoming an employee of the Postal Service until retirement.
He was a lifelong member of St Joseph Catholic Church and also member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
On August 25, 1951 Zane and the former Catherine “Kakky” Dion were married at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Linden. They were married for 64 years.
Zane was predeceased by his parents, his wife Catherine, his only brother Bruce, his sister-in-law Marian and his niece Barbara (Barbie) Kettenbeil.
He is survived by his daughter, Judith Kettenbeil of Chicago, Illinois; his nieces, Mary Lee Mikkola of Hancock, Michigan, and Anne Kettenbeil of Pte. Claire, Quebec; and his nephews, Peter Kettenbeil of Brossard, Quebec, Daniel Kettenbeil of Portage, Michigan, and William Kettenbeil of Waterford, Michigan; as well as grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends he made at the Medical Care Facility.
Enjoying the outdoors was important to Zane. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, snowmobiler, and gardener.
At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place and there will be a funeral mass at St. Joseph Church and interment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in the spring. The Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, please consider memorials in his memory to the Copper Country Humane Society.
