Yvonne “Vonnie” M. Veeser, 97, a longtime Hancock resident and more recently of Milton, Wisconsin to be near her daughter, passed away on August 16, 2024 in Milton.
She was born on July 15, 1927 in Escanaba, Michigan to the late Gustaf and Emilia Lierman. Vonnie graduated from Gladstone High School in 1945, and later from Business School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1947. She worked at Morley Murphy in Escanaba and Upper Peninsula Power Company in Houghton. She later volunteered at U.P. Health in Hancock.
She married Robert F. Veeser at All Saints Catholic Church in Gladstone, Michigan on September 28, 1957. The couple moved to Hancock as Bob was employed at Upper Peninsula Power Company’s Houghton facility. They were married for 63 years at the time of Bob’s death in 2021.
She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock and the Resurrection Shawl Group, American Legion Auxiliary Post 186 serving as secretary for 30 years and as Past-President, American Legion Auxiliary Post 90, and the Hospital Auxiliary.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, John Lierman, and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
She is survived by three daughters: Mary (David) Lemanski of Aliquippa, PA, Jane Hansen of Ripon, WI, and Nancy (Todd) Rennie of Janesville, WI; eight grandchildren: Casey Hansen, Terrence Hansen, Emily (Jacob) Galica, Kimberly Rennie, Christina Lemanski, Jessica Rennie, Elizabeth Rennie (Rylan Yaremko), and Samantha Rennie; three great-granddaughters: Sophia Galica, and Briar and Huntley Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Friday August 23, 2024 at the Church of the Resurrection with Father Corey Litzner to officiate. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock. Friends may call at the church from 10 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. before the funeral mass.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be directed to St. Vincent de Paul Society Resurrection Conference, 204 Quincy St., Hancock, MI 49930 or St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 206 Quincy St., Hancock, MI 49930 in the name of Yvonne Veeser.
