Obituary: Winifred Mary Haralson

Lake Linden: Winifred Mary Haralson passed away on Thursday February 8. 2018, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, where she had been a resident since 2010.

Winnie was born in Painesdale, MI, to Howard and Irene (Hocking) Grove, October 22, 1921. She grew up in Mohawk, and attended Mohawk and Calumet schools.

On February 3, 1941 she married the love of her life, Clayton Robert Haralson. They moved to Lake Linden to raise their family, and that remained their home. They enjoyed 71 happy years together, until Clayton died October 30, 2012. They had 4 children, who meant the world to both of them.

Winnie was a stay at home Mom, and loved her husband and children dearly, as they all loved her. Winnie loved her whole family, and extended family dearly. She loved working puzzles, going to the casino, and playing games and cards. She especially enjoyed Pinochle, and Canasta. She and Clayton would play a game or 2 of Cribbage every day when they were able to. She was famous for making pasties and lefse.

Preceding her in death besides her parents, was: her husband, Clayton; 3 sisters, Arbutus Dow, and her husband, Bill, Geraldine Bartosh, and her husband Bob, Irene McClaren, and her husband, Ed; Two brothers, Howard Grove and his wife, Paulette, and Garfield at age 3; grandson, David Haralson; granddaughter, Susan Lynne Monette; and great-grandson, Jeffery Chopp.

Surviving are her 4 children, Ken (Theresa) Haralson, Sharon (Paul) Monette, Duane (Lynne) Haralson, and Robert (Susan) Haralson; grandchildren: Mike Haralson, Tammy (Joe) Chopp, Brian (Robin) Haralson, Scott (Madonna) Monette, Sandee (Steve) Chopp, Tom Monette, Shawn Monette, Michelle Gagnon, and Nicole Outinen.

Surviving also are: great grandchildren- Joe, Stacy, Colton, Ethan, Jared, David, Justin, Amber, Alecia, Aubrianna, Damon, Alina “Alston,” Logan, Eric, Paul, Cody, Erin, Brett, Alyssa, Stephanee, Matt, Janelle, Jeremy, and Kimberly, and several great-great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful caring staff at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock for their tender loving care of Winnie. They are truly awesome, and loved Winnie like their own.

A family funeral service will be held at the Pearce Funeral Home in Lake Linden. Burial will be at the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden.
