UPDATE: A memorial service for William Robert Hover will be held 1:00 pm Friday, May 19, 2023, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Chassell Chapel with Pastor Kenneth Storm to officiate. Burial will be in the Chassell Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association.
William Robert Hover of Phoenix, Arizona (previously of Chassell, Michigan) passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19 at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Mary Ann; parents, Mabel and John Charles Sr; and brother John Charles Jr. He is survived by niece, Holley Mackey (Bill); nephews Kirk (Michelle) and JC (Patricia) and a loving extended family including great nephews Tyler Mackey (Elissa); Matt Mackey; JJ Hover (Brittany); and great-nieces Jessie Hover, Samantha Hover, Kelly Hover, Kacey Dennis (Charles); and Kaitlyn Anderson (Chris) and seven great, great nieces and nephews who he referred to as “the little people.”
Bob was honorably discharged, having reached the level of first lieutenant, from the United States Army in 1967 and enjoyed a long career full of international travel and adventures. Nothing brought him more joy than helping people, adding to his collections and working around his lake house and toy farm. Bob appreciated the value of education and was a Michigan Technological University donor and personally supported a number of students who attended. He was a friend to all in the community.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held in his hometown of Chassell, Michigan, in Spring, 2022.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to lifelong friends for their kindness and friendship that brought him much joy, and to his caregivers for their compassion and empathy.
