Obituary: William L. Ciabattari

William L. Ciabattari, 90, a former resident of Hancock and Heritage Manor in Houghton passed away Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette where he had been a resident for the past year.

He was born on September 7, 1934, in Hancock a son of the late Peter and Nina (Isacson) Ciabattari. Bill was raised in Hancock and graduated from the Hancock High School with the class of 1953.

Mr. Ciabattari was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War.

On April 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to the former Shirley Uutala. The couple resided in Hancock as they raised their family. On August 16, 2011, Shirley preceded Bill in death.

Mr. Ciabattari had worked as a salesperson for the Cohodas-Paoli Company until his retirement.

William was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church of Hancock. He enjoyed being active bowling in the local leagues for many years, walking at the mall, picking blueberries and polka dancing with his wife Shirley, along with following the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions.

Preceding him in death were his wife Shirley, his son James, along with his parents.

Surviving are: His daughter: Lisa Hyde of Marquette; His granddaughter: Allison Hyde of Marquette; His brother & sister-in-law: Ron (Denise) Uutala of Green Bay, WI: A special Friend; Yvonne “Bonnie” Lencioni of Manistique, MI; Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service for Bill will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral & Cremation Service – Hancock Chapel with Rev. Brahm Semmler Smith to officiate. Burial will be in the Lakeside Cemetery of Hancock.

Friends may call on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 1:00 pm until time of services at the funeral home.

Bill’s family would like to thank the staff at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans and Lake Superior Home and Hospice for the care given to him.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorial contributions be given to the DJ Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette or the Lake Superior Home Health and Hospice.
