Obituary: William Dube

UPDATE: A graveside service with military honors will be held on Friday June 28, 2024, at 1:00 pm in the Lakeview Cemetery.

William (Bill) Joseph Dube, 82, of Allouez, MI, passed away on November 28, 2023. He was born on February 12, 1941, in Upper Darby Twp, PA, to the late Hervey and Mayme Dube.

William will be remembered as a thoughtful and gentle man who was a lover of hockey, history and current events. He loved building and designing things and tinkering with his many tools.

William is survived by his son, Craig W Thomas, Illinois. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Timothy P Slattery and Leah Slattery Kozden (Eddie), and his beloved grandson (step) Jacob Slattery Kozden, with whom he shared his great love of hockey.

He is also survived by his sisters, Rita Geminani and Elaine Alatalo, and his brothers Peter (Kim), and James Dube, and nephews and nieces, including nephew James “Jimmer” Dube (Jamie), niece Rita Snabb, and many great nephews and nieces, including Robert (Mary) Snabb.

William was preceded in death by his parents Hervey and Mayme, his beloved wife, Catherine Harrington Dube, his stepfather, Bill Johnson, his daughter, Pamela L Dube, his sisters Joan Schutte and Janet Dube, and his infant brother David Dube. 

William graduated from Calumet High School in 1960 and went on to have a fulfilling career. After high school, William spent two active years in the Navy from 1961-1963, traveling the world, especially enjoying his time in Italy. He loved to share his stories and many adventures of his time abroad serving his country with the Navy. After his active duty, William spent four years at Michigan Tech and graduated with a Metallurgical Engineering degree in 1967.

A visitation will be held from 1-3 pm on Thursday December 7, 2024 at Erickson-Crowley-Peterson  Funeral Home in Calumet.  A burial with military honors conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association will take place in the spring at Lake View Cemetery in Calumet. William will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  His kindness, patience and gentle nature were a blessing in today’s world.
