Obituary: William “Bill” Dwyer

Calumet – William “Bill” Dwyer passed away at home on October 10, 2022. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Bill worked for thirty years at the Houghton County Airport before retiring. Bill was a volunteer fireman at the Lac La Belle Fire Department for many years following in the footsteps of his father Clarence who was also a volunteer fireman. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and Green Bay Packers fan. He passed on his love of the outdoors and the Packers to his son Patrick. In the 1970’s he was a member of the Library Bar Guts Frisbee championship team that played in the Rose Bowl. He enjoyed being around people and loved his family and pets, especially his former dog Yukon. Bill loved being at the camp in Lac La Belle in summer months and also during deer season. Bill is survived by his daughter Pam (Eric) Winquist, son Patrick Dwyer, grandson Braden Winquist, granddaughter Keeli (Justin) Pavliscak, aunt Shirley Abele, cousins Terri (Tom) Drielick, Susan (Valley) Lazzaretto, and Lisa (Kevin) Mabey, along with other numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Sten-Dwyer, father Clarence Dwyer and mother Marian Dwyer. A memorial service is scheduled at 12:30 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Jared Howard to officiate. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15th, from 11 a.m. until time of service. Graveside committal is at 1 p.m. at the Lake View Cemetery Section C-2.
