UPDATE: A Graveside service for Wesley will take place on Thursday June 23, 2022, at 11:00 am in the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek, MI.
Wesley Richard Maki, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2022, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, MI. Wesley was born on January 23, 1945, in Hancock, MI to parents Reino and Helmi (Hiltunen) Maki.
Wesley is survived by his brother; Sulo Maki of Lake Linden, his sister; Mary Morrison, his children; David (Cindy) Maki of Calumet, Wanda Erkkila of Calumet, Dwane Maki of calumet, Lissa (Dave) Maki of Calumet, his stepdaughter; Jamie (Tyson) Connellt, his special friend Priscilla DeRocshier, Grandchildren; Sheridan (Analee) Habersetzer, Matt (Marnie) Manninen of Belleville, Roy (Sarah) Manninen of Hancock, Brittany Harrison (Kirk) of Orlando, Dawson Hendrickson of Calumet, Rachel Peterson of Lake Linden, Brendan Maki of Lake Linden, Mackenzie Maki of Calumet, Great Grandchildren; Degan, Everett, Jikhan, Ylenia, and Yana, his niece and nephew; Darcy (cliff) Maki and Gary (Gloria) Maki.
Wesley enjoyed spending time with his grandsons Sheridan and Brendan Maki- the lights in his life and his great-grandchild Degan. He enjoyed helping others and was so kindhearted to everyone. He also loved spending time with Priscilla and his brother Sulo talking about football and life.
He married Claire (Aho) Kolmonen in 1965 and had his 4 children.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Reino and Helmi (Hiltunen) Maki, his stepmom; Fern Herlick, his brother; Roy (Rose) Maki, and his sister; Lillian Kangas.
His kind and gentle soul will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be on Thursday January 20th from 1-3 pm with a memorial service at 3 pm in the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home.
