Wanda W. Nicholas, 84, a resident of Hancock passed away Friday, June 4, 2021, at her home following a lengthy illness, with her children at her side.
She was born on October 11, 1936, in Copemish, MI, a daughter of the late Ervin and Helen (Ashcraft) Wells. Wanda was raised in Copemish and was a graduate of the Copemish High School with the class of 1954. She then attended Northwestern College for Nursing.
Wanda began a career in nursing at Grandview Hospital in Ironwood, MI. On October 6, 1956, she was united in marriage to George Nicholas. The couple resided in Ironwood where they began their family with three children. In 1963, the couple moved to make their home in Hancock, and they welcomed a fourth child to their family. Wanda was a stay-at-home mother when the children were younger. She then went to cook for the TKE fraternity in Houghton for a short time. She returned to nursing at Portage View Hospital before moving to the Houghton County Medical Care Facility, which she retired from in 2007.
Wanda was a devout member of the Church of the Resurrection in Hancock where she was active with the Funeral Committee, Prayer Shawl Group, and volunteered on a regular basis. Her family and friends where always an important part of her life.
Preceding her in death, was her husband George, her son Scott, her granddaughter Brittany, her parents and her brothers; Ronald and Wayne.

As requested, no service will take place and burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery of Ironwood, MI next to her beloved husband.
