Obituary: Wallace “Butch” Reed

Wallace “Butch” Reed, age 79, a resident of Calumet, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday September 21, 2022, at the Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, Michigan.

Butch was born April 22, 1943, in Hancock, Michigan, to parents Leonard and Elaine (Neault) Reed. He attended local schools in the Cooper Country before graduating from Calumet High School in 1961. During his high school years Butch was active in the ROTC and became drill commander. After high school he attended Michigan Tech for a year. Then he moved to Waukegan Illinois, where he was employed at John’s Manville until he retired and returned to the Copper Country.  He then worked for his brother at Randy’s Bar and continued there when it became Rocky’s. He tended bar at Rocky’s until his illness this year. 

Butch loved to bowl. He was the secretary of the senior bowling league at Millers Lanes in Laurium, Michigan. He loved his Tigers, Packers and Red Wings. He was a music “aficionado” enjoying the 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and old time Country & Western music. 

He is preceded in death by; His parents Leonard & Elaine, brother’s Lenny (Joyce) Reed, Gary (Linda) Reed; sisters Pat Sdunek, Rita (Richard) Anderson. 

He is survived by; His brothers Bob (Betty) Reed, Randy (Denise) Reed; sister’s in-law Joyce Reed and Linda Reed, brother’s in-laws Bruce Sdunek and Richard Anderson, numerous nieces nephews, and cousins. Many special friends including Susie and Jan, and the Rocky’s Family. 

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 27, 2022, in the Siskiwit Reception Hall located in Calumet, Michigan, at 11:00 AM with lunch to follow.

The Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home will be assisting the family with arrangements.
