Obituary: Vincent A. DePaul

As received from the Ryan Funeral Home:

UPDATE: Graveside services will be held on Saturday July 20th at 11 a.m. in Section K of the Lake View Cemetery. An evening memorial will be held for Vinnie at 7 p.m. @ 58543 Lake Shore Drive in Calumet ½ mile south of Bucky’s. Friends and family are welcome to attend for buffet, beverages, sauna and fireworks in celebration of his life.

Vincent Adrian DePaul (Vinnie), 41, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed on peacefully at his home on November 25th, 2023.

Vince was born on March 31st, 1982, in Falls Church, Virginia. He is survived by his mother Julie DePaul Johnson, step dad Keith Johnson, and niece Stella Johnson of Calumet; father Vince (Lori) DePaul and sister Olivia DePaul of Washington, PA; aunt Denise (Michael) Terral and brother Dylan of Pittsburgh; aunt Christina DePaul McCarthy and cousin Riley of Philadelphia; uncle Reid Rastello of Copper City; numerous other cousins; and the best friend anyone could ask for, Nathan Gene Sutinen of Johnstown, PA.

He was preceded in death by sister Esme Enes Johson, maternal grandparents Charles and Alice Rastello, aunt Robyn (Mark) Blough, paternal grandparents Vince and Norma DePaul, and his beloved uncle Brian (Christina) McCarthy.

Vince spent much of his youth in Calumet and attended local schools. He enjoyed long summer vacations with his family in Pennsylvania and moved out East after graduation.

During his years in the Pittsburgh area, Vince held various positions in the food service industry and was always praised by employers for his loyalty and reliability.

Through the years, he will be remembered for his golden aura, extremely kind-hearted nature and humorous crude-dude camaraderie among his many friends, family members and co-workers.

He taught us the value of forgiveness – not by words but how he believed even the worst of us deserved consideration – notoriously noting “we may not know the entire situation.”

Vince was lucky to have his best friend Nathan alongside him every step through the darkest shadows of the deepest schwaggery we must all traverse at some point in this crazy life.

Although he will be tremendously missed by all who knew him, we can be comforted by remembering, God calls his better angels home early and Heaven has surely been phat paid.

The Hindman Funeral Home of Johnstown, PA and Ryan Funeral Home of Calumet are assisting the family.

A Summer Memorial service for Vinnie is being planned with details to be announced at a future date.
