Tony J. Hemmila, age 32 of L’Anse, MI passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 11, 2023. He was born in Ishpeming, MI on June 22, 1990 the son of Kevin and Kathy (Thibeault) Hemmila. Tony graduated from L’Anse High School in 2009. He had worked in the logging industry for various businesses and on the Pipeline. Tony was a member of the Laborers Union Local #1329, L’Anse Fire Department, and the former L’Anse Eagles #2287. Tony enjoyed hunting with his bear dogs, fishing, camping, bowling, snow-wheeling and snowmobiling. He loved watching his son play baseball and was involved as an assistant coach. Tony will be remembered for his laughter and kind spirit and will remain in everyone’s heart.
Tony is survived by his loving family; his baby momma of Autumn and Hunter, Brit Bianco, his children Autumn Hemmila, Hunter Hemmila both of L’Anse, and Asher Wood of Manistique, MI his parents Kevin and Kathy Hemmila of L’Anse, brothers Tyler Hemmila (fiancé Katy Johnson) of Skanee, and Tucker Hemmila (Annabelle Tice) of Jackson, MI, niece and nephews Kinsey Hemmila, Kyler Hemmila, and Kohen Hemmila all of Skanee, grandparents Jayne Thibeault of Ishpeming, and Richard and Bonnie Hemmila of Negaunee. Numerous other family members also survive. He was preceded in death by his grandfather James Thibeault.
A celebration of life visitation for Tony will be held from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse. Immediately following the visitation, the family invites friends to join them for fellowship and a potluck luncheon at the Baraga American Legion Post #444. Anyone wishing to contribute something for the luncheon, can please drop it off at the Baraga American Legion between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Friday.
