Timothy “Bunu” Robert Frantti, age 58, passed away on Tuesday April 11, 2022, at Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium, MI.
Timothy was born on July 20, 1963, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents Paul and Irene (Storm) Frantti. He grew up in the Copper Country and attended Calumet High School graduating with the Class of 1981. After high school, he attended Northern Michigan University where he played football. After NMU, he went to the Michigan Department of Corrections Academy before starting a career as a corrections officer. In August of 1985, he married the love of his life Lori Johnson, who stood by his side for the rest of his life. Timothy worked as a Corrections Transportation Officer until he retired in 2018. During retirement, he enjoyed working at Campioni’s True Value Hardware store.
Timothy loved his family. Spending time with his wife, kids, and grandkids brought him great joy. Sharing a sauna with family and friends always put a smile on his face. He loved watching Calumet High School sports and was proud to be a Copper King. He was the 1981 George Gipp Award winner as the outstanding senior male athlete of the year and was inducted into the Calumet High School hall of fame in 2016. In his life, he served as a board member, coach, and registrar for the Calumet Hockey Association for 25 years.
Timothy is preceded in death by his father; Paul, his sister; Lisa, brothers; Aaron and John Paul, his father-in-law; Ralph Johnson, his mother-in-law; Carol “Little Gram” Johnson, and sister-in-law Candace Johnson.
He is survived by his wife Lori Frantti
His children; Josh (Danielle) Frantti of Laurium,
Logan (Stephanie) Frantti of Calumet,
Kirby (Stacey) Frantti of Negaunee.
His grandchildren; Tanner, Bria, Jake, Amelia, Grace, and Caleb.
His mother: Irene Frantti of Hancock.

A visitation service will be held at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church of Calumet on Friday April 15, 2022, from 4:00pm-7:00pm. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 7:00pm with David Tailvalkoski to officiate.
