As received from the Memorial Chapel & Plowe Funeral Homes:
Thomas J. “Tom” Riedy, 65, a life-long resident of Chassell, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Omega House in Houghton.
Tom was born on November 21, 1955 in Hancock, the son of Walter and Mary (Manderfield) Riedy. He was raised in Chassell and graduated from the Chassell Schools with the class of 1974. By then, Tom was well on his way to becoming a life-long self-employed auto mechanic and over time, became very well known in the Chassell area. Most people would remember Tom for his sense of humor, funny stories, happy smile and big appetite. Tom always gave far more than what he had, but that was just his way because he seemed to have a soft spot for people in need.
In our hearts we will always remember him as Super Tom, who lived his life by the motto, “the right way, the wrong way, and the Riedy way”.
Preceding Tom in death are his grandparents, his father Walter, and a brother, Mike.
He is survived by his mother, Mary (Patrick) Cornish
His brothers; Ken and Walter
His sisters; Pat (Dave) Skutt, Sue (Larry) Hubbard and Mary Ann (Steve) Krug.
He is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at the Omega House for their care for Tom.
In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family asks that donations be made to the Omega House in Houghton in Tom’s memory.
A private family prayer service will be held at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church in Calumet with Fr. Paul Manderfield to Celebrate.
