Thomas E. Disney, age 84, of Covington, MI passed away Monday, April 1, 2019.
He was born in Dearborn, MI on September 12, 1934 the son of the late Ralph and Nellie (Loughlin) Disney. Tom graduated from Dearborn High School. He married the former Mary O. Moore in Toledo, Ohio on December 25, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 3, 2008. Tom and Mary moved to Covington in 1991. Tom operated Disney Bait and Tackle in the Baraga Marina for 23 years. He retired in 2018. Tom and Mary came up with “Kids Day” as a community service held at the Baraga Marina and they ran it for many years. He enjoyed hunting, getting out in the woods and was always on the go looking for something to do. Tom was always willing to lend a hand.
Tom is survived by his loving family, daughter Cheryl Obarr of Lincoln Park, MI, son-in-law Don Paquette of Covington, 10 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, brother Raymond Disney, sister Anne (Gordon) Runyon and his companion Tricia Branam. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his son Edward Disney in 2002, wife Mary in 2008 and daughter Debry Paquette in 2008.
Funeral services for Tom will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel, L’Anse with Elder Donald Petoskey officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of the funeral service.
Interment will take place in the Baraga Cemetery, Baraga, MI.
