Obituary: Theresa Kokkonen

     Theresa (Ron) Kokkonen, 73, a resident of Dollar Bay passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, at her home following a lengthy illness.

     She was born on October 18, 1949, in Painesdale, MI a daughter of the late Ernest and Laura (Perrow) Archambeau.  As a child, Theresa moved with her family to Hancock and was a graduate of the Hancock High School with the class of 1968.

     On August 19, 1972, she was united in marriage to Ronald Kokkonen.  The couple resided in Sheboygan, WI for a short time and have made their home in Dollar Bay since 1974.

     Theresa has always been a hard worker, starting in high school she worked at Newberry Store in Hancock, had waitressed for various restaurants in the area bartended at Partanen’s Bar, sold Tupperware, and had owned and operated Mighty Maids cleaning service for over 25 years.

     Mrs. Kokkonen was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church of Dollar Bay where she had been a past president of the Altar Society of the church.  She also was active with the Dollar Bay Girl Scout Troop, was a past president of the Dollar Bay Fire Department Auxiliary, and a past president of the Runeberg Lodge #8 of Dollar Bay.  On each July third you could hear Theresa saying give me a buck as she sold 50/50 tickets for the Dollar Bay Fire Department Auxiliary during the Street dance in Dollar Bay.  She also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, stream fishing and spending time at the camp.
     Preceding her in death were her newborn twin great-grandchildren: Brooklyn and Brinley Kokkonen; her parents, her sisters: Carol Messner, Nancy Archambeau, and Pat Barrette.

     Surviving are: Her husband: Ron Kokkonen of Dollar Bay; Her children: Wayne (Nicky Outinen) Kokkonen of Lake Linden & Gina (Jake Limanen) Goodell of Litchfield, MN; Her grandchildren: Travis (Nikki)Kokkonen, Justin (Samm) Kokkonen, Courtney (Griffin) Sant, Kayla Goodell, and Camren (Hailey) Goodell; Her great-grandchildren: Paytin, Bailey, Kennedi, Karsyn, Lilly and Bentley; Her brother: Stan (Linda) Archambeau of Hurontown; Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

     A prayer service for Theresa will be held 6:00 pm Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.

     Friends may call on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, from 3:00 pm until time of the prayer service at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Hancock.
