Obituary: Theresa Fay (Terry) Jackman

As received from the Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home:

Theresa Fay (Terry) Jackman of Calumet passed away on July 8, 2021 from an infection that attacked her heart while undergoing extensive treatment for complications of diabetes. She was born on January 23, 1959 to James and Mary Jackman. She grew up in Centennial Heights with her six siblings attending Sacred Heart Central Grade School. She graduated from Calumet High School in 1977 and attended Olivet College on a scholarship. Later, she married and moved to Florida where she started a family. It didn’t take long before she realized that she wanted her children to grow up in Michigan so they moved back to the state and eventually to the Calumet area. She completed a course in para-optometrics from Indiana University in 2000 and worked for a local optometrist for several years.

Terry was preceded in death by her loving mother, Mary Jackman, cousin Dale and grandparents, John and Mae Jackman and Anna and Wasyl Lobur. She is survived by her father, James Jackman (Dolores Basto) and her children, Jim Cole and Kim (John) Snyder, as well as her first grandchild, Baby Girl Snyder due on August 20, 2021. She also leaves behind her siblings, Deb McColl, Cindy (Steve) Sutek, Sandy Jackman-Aho, Dave (Lisa) Jackman, Wendy (John) True and Jeff Jackman, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Terry will be remembered for her big heart, big laugh and beautiful smile. She loved her children, her family and friends and her beautiful Lake Superior. Terry found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like sitting on the beach and digging for agates. She had a way with words and could always be counted on for a good laugh with her stories. Terry was also a gifted writer of short stories and poems.

Cremation has taken place and a private service to honor and remember Terry will take place at a later time this summer. In honor of Terry, she would want everyone suffering from diabetes to take the disease seriously and take care of their health.
