On July 10, 2024, Our Angel received her wings.
Theresa Ann Holombo passed away peacefully in the arms of her children at Portage Pointe where she had been a resident following a stroke in October, 2023.
Theresa was born at home in Houghton on August 27, 1931. She was the youngest of the seven children born to James and Theresa Ann (Stephan) Lowney.
Theresa grew up in Houghton and attended St. Ignatius Catholic School. She graduated from Houghton High School with the Class of 1949. In school she participated in cheerleading and basketball. She also enjoyed figure skating and skating with her brothers. Skating led her to the Hillside Ice Rink in Hancock where she met her future husband James Holombo.
After graduation, Theresa was employed as a Michigan “Belle” telephone operator, often substituting “bumble bee” for “number please” for a giggle.
On September 5, 1953, Theresa married her sweetheart James. Their first home was Fort Mead, MD where Jim served during his Army service. After the Army, they moved to Chicago and eventually back to the Copper Country in 1959 where they raised a family, built a home and a business in Dollar Bay. They resided there together until Jim’s passing in 2003. Theresa was the voice of Jim’s Septic Tank Cleaning Service, taking customer calls for nearly 60 years.
Besides her parents and her husband Jim, Theresa was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine (Jack) Flynn, brothers, Jim II (Jeanette), Dan (Margaret), John (Helen), Fran (Dorothy), and Robert (Carol). Her in-laws, William and Lillian Holombo and son-in-law Glen Edgar.
She is survived by her 3 children:

A dear friend Lou Hanke of East Gross Pt. Shores – Dollar Bay

Ryan (Billie) Edgar of Ohio & Florida
Brandon (Jenny) Edgar of Columbus, OH
Daniel Adamson of Lockbourne, OH
Kimberly (Lyndon) Cox of Bexley, OH
6 great-grandchildren: Madelyn Edgar, Parker Edgar, Lilianna & William Edgar, Emmy and Bryn Cox.
She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
At Theresa’s request, there will be no public service.
A Graveside Blessing was held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, in the Lakeside Cemetery in Hancock with Fr. John Martignon where Theresa was laid to rest alongside her husband Jim.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to a charity of one’s choice in memory of Theresa Ann Holombo.
