Theodore Albert Rolof, age 94 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born on January 24, 1926 in Copper City, MI son of Albert and Rose (Schmidlin) Rolof. Ted grew up in Pequaming, MI. He married the former Dorothy Oleskie on April 6, 1953 at Sacred Heart of Jesus in L’Anse, MI. He worked construction for a few years, then he worked at UP Power for over 30 years.
Ted was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 144, VFW Post 3897, DAV, NRA, and was on the L’Anse Village Council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his family.
Ted proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and was in Battle of the Buldge during that time.
Surviving are his wife Dorothy Rolof of L’Anse; children, Linda (James) Schwab of L’Anse, Ted (Crystal) Rolof of Culleoka, TN, Jean (Jim) DesRochers of L’Anse; sister Cecelica (Dale) Tembreull of L’Anse; grandchildren, Steven (Jessica) Schwab, Tyler (Alexandra) Schwab, Ted (Tricia) Rolof, Cathie Rolof, Christine (E.J.) Rolof, Corey (Lindsey) Liggett, Hannah Stephens, Chelsea Rolof, Hunter Rolof, Bryan (Nikki) DesRochers, Laura DesRochers, and Jamie (Sam) Besonen, 14 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents; brother William Rolof; sisters, Miriam Robinson, and Rosemond Bianco.
A private family funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church with Fr. Corey Litzner officiating. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery with military honors. The Jacobson Funeral Home is assisting the family.
