Obituary: Suzanne M. Heikkila

Laurium

Suzanne M. Heikkila, 77, a resident of Laurium passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019, at the Aspirius Keweenaw Hospital in Laurium.

She was born on September 1, 1941, in Calumet, a daughter of the late Robert and Lyla (Simula) Oja.  Suzanne attended the Calumet Schools.

Suzanne was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.

Preceding her in death were her parents and an infant brother Ned.

She is survived by Roy Heikkila and their Children:

          Larry (Celeste) Heikkila of Jackson Hole, WY

          Gary (Lisa) Heikkila of Calumet, MI

          Lisa (Charlie) Niemi of Chassell, MI

          Lonny (Kelly) Heikkila of Dollar Bay, MI

          Cami (Byron) Muonio of Novi, MI

          Leslie Heikkila of Hancock, MI

          Clint (Lisa) Heikkila of Chassell, MI

          Terry Ruohonen of Dollar Bay, MI

          Cleve Heikkila of Laurium, MI

          Karena Heikkila of Farmington Hills, MI

     32 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren

     Her siblings:

          Dede Beachamp, Polly Silverson, Judy (Ron) Kaski, Peggy (Melvin) Staricha, Lorraine (Rick) Karpinen, Mick (Sara) Oja, Audrey (Gary) Erickson, Doug (Elsa) Oja, Rachael (Grant) Lobbestael, Cliff (Kathy) Oja and Richard (Elaine) Oja.

     Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services for Suzanne will be held 1 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2019, at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock with Ron Jouppe to officiate.  Spring burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery of Ahmeek.

Friends may call on Tuesday, February 19, 2019, from 4 to 8:00 pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock and on Wednesday from 11:00 am until time of services at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church of Hancock.
