Obituary: Steven E. Jampsa

Steven E. Jampsa, 56, a resident of Coles Creek Road, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 15, 2021, following an apparent heart attack.

He was born on May 19, 1965, in Hancock, MI, a son of Michael and Shirley (Weijola) Jampsa.  Steven was raised in Onnela and was a graduate of the Houghton High School.

     Following high school Steven attended building trades school in Marquette and then began a career in construction.  He moved to New Hampshire for a time to work and then returned to the UP working for various construction companies.  For a short time, Mr. Jampsa was active with the US Naval Reserves.

Steve has a passion for gardening always giving away his vegetables to family and friends.  He enjoyed doing yard work for so many people.  Steve was an avid sports fan of all kinds especially the Red Wings  and Green Bay Packers.  He also enjoyed pitching horseshoes with many friends,

Steve could strike up a conversation with anyone and had a good sense of humor and wit.  He was greatly loved by many. 

 He was preceded in death by his stepfather: John Clark, step-brothers, John, Robert, & Patrick and his sister-in-law: Debbie Jampsa

Surviving are:

         His mother: Shirley Clarke

         His father: Michael (Carol) Jampsa

         His brothers: Glenn Jampsa & Kerry Jampsa

         His step-brothers: Rodney (Michelle) Grislona

                                      Robert Grilona

         His stepsister: Debbie Jackman

         Several nieces, nephews and cousins

A graveside service for Steven will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, June 21, 2021, at the Atlantic Mine Cemetery with Rev. Jared Howard to officiate.
