Obituary: Sharon Virginia Maki

Sharon Virginia (Anderson) Maki, passed away unexpectedly on May 28, 2024 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital in L’Anse, Michigan.

She was born in Pontiac, MI daughter of Signe Virginia Forslund and David Hugo Anderson. Sharon was 82 years young and has three surviving children, Troy Maki (Kris) of L’Anse, Wendy (David) Reyborg of Cottonwood, AX, and Greta (John) Hebert of L’Anse; eight grandchildren, Brook Byers, Brittany Niemi, Evelyn Hebert, Brittany Hebert, Danny maki, David Maki, Zack Maki, Donny Bart; and eighteen great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death are her parents; husband Arne Maki, cousin Karen Salo, aunt and uncle Inga and Bert Anderson; and her best friend Normandine LaFernier.

Sharon graduated from L’Anse Area Schools. She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Sharon worked for the L’Anse Transit and used to run in our town; where she shared many stories of the funny adventures she would have daily on the job. She also worked for the L’Anse Area School Cafetorium for many years where she made lots of friends.

In her spare time she loved to play the piano or paint. She was a local artist from this community and shared her talent with family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, rock picking, blueberry picking, yard sales, bottle digging, and having family picnics at her camp. She was the life of the party and always found a reason to smile.

Sharon also loved to garden and grow beautiful flowers and could tell you the names of every one. She loved animals and wildlife and you would catch her baby talking to them through the car window when she saw them. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and she will be so sadly missed.

Visitation will be on Friday, May 31st from 2-4:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery.
