Sharon Rita Sabourin-Nagel-Krys passed away peacefully the morning of September 18, 2021 at Garden View Assisted Living, where she had been a resident since 2015.
Sharon was born April 9, 1939, in Highland Park, MI to William and Florence “Babe” (Kirk) Sabourin. Many of her family called her “Bunny” because she was born on Easter Sunday. She attended Shrine High school in Royal Oak, Michigan and graduated in 1957. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science from the University of Detroit in 1957. She married James Nagel in November of 1961 and the happy couple moved to Flint, MI where she taught math at Lowell Junior High School. In 1967 her family of 6 moved to a farm in Howell, Michigan which is where she spent most of her adult life. A 5th child was born to them in 1972. She filled her days with raising her children on the farm.
Singing was her passion, and she sang with the Sweet Adeline Water Wonderland chorus & the Note-A-Dames quartet. Her hobbies also included sewing, knitting, crocheting, and macrame.
In 1985 she married Jerry Krys and continued life on the farm. Jerry’s 2 children, Allison & August were a happy addition to the family.
She moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in 2015 following her sister’s death to be near her youngest son Matthew (Heather) Nagel and his family. She was a resident of Garden View Assisted Living from September 2015 until her passing in 2021. It was during this time in the UP that she was able to enjoy time and activities with her grandchildren (Kaisa, Ava, & Lewis). During her time in the Keweenaw she enjoyed sightseeing rides around town in her unique bike, going to school band concerts and hockey games to watch her grandchildren, and spending time relaxing with family and friends.
She attended North Point Church of the Keweenaw.
