Sharon K. Manninen, 74, a resident of Hancock, passed away Friday, March 5, 2021, at her home following a short illness.
She was born on April 16, 1946, in Hancock, the daughter of the late Felix and Gertrude (Pyykkonen) Butkonen. Sharon was raised in Mason and was a graduate of the Dollar Bay High School with the class of 1964. She then received her RN degree from Harper Nursing School in Detroit, MI.
Sharon returned to the Copper Country and worked as a Registered Nurse for Portage Hospital and the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock, until retiring to help care for her mother.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, managing the Red Wings and Tigers from her recliner, playing games on her computer and was an avid reader.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Charles Manninen, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Her son: Jeffrey (Diana “Veronica” Hall) Manninen of Altoona, WI
Her grandchildren: Amanda & Jordan Manninen and Dallas & Skylar Hall
Her brother: John (Renée) Butkonen of Lake Linden
Her nieces and nephew: Kari Holzberger, Erik Butkonen & Teri Brady
Her special cousins: Katherine Baillargeon, Mary Carlson & Christine Bissett
Her aunt: Anita Henderson of Downey, CA
Several cousins, and great-nieces and nephews
