Sharon Ann Niemi, age 77 of L’Anse, MI passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at Baraga County Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 5, 1943 in L’Anse, MI daughter of Melvin and Grace (Johnson) Reed. Sharon graduated from L’Anse High School in 1962 and married Gerald Niemi on June 16, 1962 United Lutheran Church. Sharon worked at Winkler’s Nursing Home, the Hilltop Restaurant, and for over 25 years at Superior National.
Sharon was a member of United Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved baking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 58 years, Gerald Niemi of L’Anse; sons Kevin Niemi of Beach Park IL, Jerry Niemi of Lake Linden, MI; sister Barbara (Philip) Nankervis of Skanee; grandchildren, Toby, Devin, Haylee Grace; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are her parents; daughter Lori Ann Niemi; brother, Robert “Bobby” Reed; and sister Sandra Kay Reed.
Visitation will be on Monday, August 24th from 12-2:00 p.m. at Jacobson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be for family at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Ansell officiating. Burial will be in the L’Anse Evergreen Cemetery. Luncheon and fellowship will be at 3:30 p.m. at the VFW Post in L’Anse for friends and family.
