As received from the Jacobson Funeral Home:
Sally Jo Outinen, age 66 of Baraga, MI, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Omega House in Houghton, MI.
She was born October 11, 1954 in Ishpeming, MI, daughter of William and Bertha (Haka) Mustonen. Sally graduated from Baraga High School in 1972 and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from NMU in 1975. She married Paul Outinen on May 10, 1975 in Pelkie. Sally worked her entire career as an RN at Bell Memorial Hospital in Ishpeming, officially retiring in 2016.
She enjoyed motorcycle riding, rubber stamping, traveling, attending sporting events of the younger generation of her extended family, and playing card games while wintering in Florida. Most important to her was the love and support of her family. Whether personally or professionally, anyone who she touched would say that she was a very kind, giving, and caring woman, always concerned about others. She always looked for the bright side of things in any situation and that is something that she impressed upon her children.
Surviving are her husband, Paul Outinen of Baraga; sons, Chad (Mellody) Outinen of St. Paul park, MN, Brent (Christine) Outinen of Chicago, IL; brother, John Haka of Texas; granddaughter Chloey; aunt Toini Moberg of Baraga and uncle Richard Mustonen of Arizona; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her parents, and brothers, Ronald Haka, Billy Mustonen, and Jack Haka.
Her funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Rev. Julie Belew officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Jacobson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Due to CDC recommendations, we are reminding people to please wear a mask and social distance as much as possible.
