Ruth E. Balagna, 99, a resident of Aston Gardens, Sun City Center, Florida passed away peacefully with her family by her side on March 17, 2020.
She was born in Ahmeek, Michigan to Charles and Helena (Tiri) Takku.
Ruth attended both the Ahmeek School and Calumet High School graduating in 1940.Following graduation, she moved to Detroit where she worked for the Detroit Diesel Engine Company.
On July 12, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Dante Balagna in Mohawk. After her marriage, she worked for Investors Diversified Services in Houghton, Mi. Following Dante’s graduation from Michigan Tech, they moved to Detroit where he worked for Ford Motor Compay and she worked for Garden City Hospital. They retired and together in 1984, she and Dante would spend the summers in the Copper Country and the winters in Florida. In 1999, her and Dante moved fulltime to Florida. While in Mohawk, she was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church of Keweenaw.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Helena Takku, her brothers, Arne and Wesley Takku, her sisters, Lillian Cardinal, Betty Hollich of Chicago, Illinois and Helen Fack, and her husband, Dante Balagna.
She is survived by: Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday July 16, 2021 in Section U of the Lake View Cemetery with Pastor Larry Malloy to officiate.
