Roy ‘Ron” Raatikka, 88, a resident of the Arbor Green Senior Living Community passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022, at the Omega House in Houghton following a short illness.
He was born on August 11, 1934, in Bruce Crossing, MI, a son of the late Matthew and Gertrude (Mukari) Raatikka. Ron was raised on the family farm in Bruce Crossing and was a graduate of the Ewen High School.
Mr. Raatikka was a veteran having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He then attended Coyne Electrical School in Chicago.
Ron began a career as a journeyman electrician working in Wisconsin and the Chicago area. He then returned to Ewen to help his parents on the family dairy and begin working for the White Pine Copper Mine. In 1980, Ron took over the family Dairy farm from his parents and became a full-time dairy farmer.
In 1998, Ron met Sandra Huuki and the couple were united in marriage in 1999. Since that time, they made their home in Atlantic Mine until moving to Arbor Green Senior Living Community in 2019.
Mr. Raatikka attended Saints Peter & Paul Lutheran Church in Houghton. He was a lifelong fisherman and had been an active member serving on the board of the Settlers Co-op while residing in Brice Crossing.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his brother Matt “Bill” Raatikka and his brothers-in-law: Lloyd and Erland Narhi

His special cousin Catherine (Bill) Bailey of Byron, MI

A memorial service for Ron will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 26, 2022, at S.S. Peter & Paul Lutheran Church of Houghton with Rev. Kevin Bender to officiate. Burial will be in the Liminga Cemetery.
